AFL South East Umpire Department – Update – 20th April

20 April 2023

Please see below update with MPFNL entering it’s 3rd Round and the SEWF, AFL South East Regional (U13 to U19), FDJ (U11-U12) & SEJ (U11-12) competitions getting underway this weekend.

  • All Umpires – ANZAC Weekend

Across the weekend many of our clubs are holding ANZAC Ceremonies pre-match, and some of your appointment times are slightly altered.

We urge all Umpires to please embrace such a special weekend and work with our Clubs so that these can occur as a priority.

On behalf of the AFL South East Umpiring Department, we pay our respects and sincerest gratitude to all of our current and past Servicemen & Servicewomen and particularly acknowledge those in our Umpiring community who have served or are currently serving in our Defence Force.

Lest We Forget.

  • Seniors (MPFNL & SEWF) – ANZAC Weekend

Following each MPFNL Seniors & SEWF match, there will be the awarding of the J.A Gloury Medal, a highly prestigious honour for the Best On Ground in each match.

This will be awarded by both Coaches coming together and deciding who they believe was Best on Ground.

To find out more about John Arthur Gloury and his incredible service for our Region, head to the MPFNL website.

Clubs have the ability to present this either post-match on the ground or in their social rooms after the match. Senior Umpires are encouraged to attend this presentation.

  • April 19 Pay Run

As communicated on April 19 on the Club Hub, unfortunately there was an issue with AFL Finance & OfficialsHQ which has meant that the Pay-Run from April 19 will be completed today April 20.
We apologies for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

  • MATCH DAY PAPERWORK & VOTES

Match Day Paperwork & Votes are to be completed via OfficialsHQ (when you get your appointment sent to you via email this gives you access to complete this)

If you are unable for any reason to complete this on the OfficialsHQ site, please scan the QR Codes in the Umpire Changerooms – Match Day Paperwork.

Umpires have been outstanding over the first (3) weeks regarding their submissions of this on OfficialsHQ and on the odd occasion via the QR Code and it is sincerely appreciated.

  • Junior Appointments

This weekend if you wish to umpire a match for some extra cash, or if you are able to assist in helping train some of our 200 newly registered umpires please contact;

  • South East Region (SEJ) – Darren Murray (0481790135)
  • Bayside Region (FDJ) – Xavier Willis (0422 116 893)

We are always looking for more Umpires so that our loyal squad don’t have to do multiple games a weekend, and with the growth we are seeing, there’s no better time to sign up.

So get your friends involved and get paid for the best seat in the house.

  • AFL SOUTH EAST COMMUNITY UMPIRING WEEK & ROUND

The weekend of May 5/6/7 will be the AFL South East/SUA Community Umpire Round and Week and further news will be sent around this shortly!
