Afternoon AFLSE/SUA Senior Umpires,
What an amazing turn out last night at the SUA Rooms, and thank you for your engagement in some fantastic questions.
Get down to training over the next couple of Wednesday’s, because to see the amount of people in the room and the excitement for the MPFNL Finals Series, this will only grow, so be a part of it!
The Southern Umpires Association will be reaching out with further details around the Grand Final Appointments Night, which is a night not to be missed.
Couple of key points from last night:
- Contact for your Umpire Liaison will be emailed to you on Friday. Umpire Liaison is there for you, please use them for anything you may need throughout the day, your coaches will be busy observing all day.
- Your ground pass gains you entry into the ground on the day you are umpiring. If you do not have this pass, please contact your Umpire Liaison prior to arrival to organise getting this at the gate. IF YOU DO NOT CONTACT YOUR UMPIRE LIAISON TO ORGANISE YOUR PASS, UNFORTUNATLY YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY.
- CHECK YOUR APPOINTMENT DAY & TIME!
- If you are Under 18, (1) parent/guardian is allowed to enter without paying as per your ground pass.
- Pre-Match process for all umpires is the same as the Home & Away Season (Get there early as there will be bigger crowds!)
- Runners are expected to escort you off the ground as per the Home & Away Season, there will also be Security & Liaison at MPFNL Finals Venues.
- Post-Match process for all umpires is the same as the Home & Away Season (Except No Votes)
- Tribunals will be held on Tuesday Evenings through the Finals.
- League Officials supply paperwork and Footballs, and will collect these at the end of the game. (Footballs/Scorecards/Team Sheets).

You can then walk off the ground quickly as a team.
Rule 8.4 [MPNFL Senior Operations Manual]
In the event of a draw in any finals match, including Grand Finals, extra time shall be played.
8.4.1 – At the completion of the fourth quarter and scores are tied, the following shall apply;
The teams shall kick to the same ends used in the fourth quarter;
The coaches shall not be permitted to address players between the end of the fourth quarter and the start of extra time or at any change of ends during the playing of extra time
8.4.2 – Where extra time is to be played in a final, two (2) halves of five (5) minutes each, with time on added, shall be played.
8.4.3 – In the event of scores being level after the two (2) five (5) minute halves, the process is repeated until there is a result.
